Location of users who are not responding
  • We just got set up and I just added all our users. I see a lot of people on the map, webview for sure but I think on the device map as well, that are not responding. They have either hit cancel or unavailable. Should I be able to see these peoples locations?

    I know some of our users are not going to use it if we can see their location all the time.

  • Yes, if they have their device set to give you the coords and they are actively using the app, it will be reporting their position.

    If they don't want to be seen, they can turn their gps off for the whole device, turn the location reporting off in the app, or not open the app.

  • It would be nicer (cleaner) to have the option to not report "Unavailable" and "Watch" locations.  I guess with the ability to re-name response buttons, this might have to be coded on a per-button basis (ie: Button name, Report location when clicked)?  Our guys tend to turn off GPS because they don't want to be tracked all the time but then forget to turn it back on when they need to be.  If tracking was only attached to specific response buttons, it would reduce or eliminate this problem.  I want to know where you are when you click Responding but I could care less where you are when you click Unavailable or simply look at the alert (watch).

  • our members have also turned off the GPS feature due to this happening. Please setup a way that the admin of the account can choose which buttons show location.
  • I will make this suggestion to them. It will still hinge off of the phone's actual settings, since we cannot track people without them setting their phone to share coordinates. For the time being, I would suggest off duty personnel switch their devices to off duty or turn their GPS to off duty. That will keep them from cluttering up the screen.
